Sac Street Medicine
Sacramento Street Medicine (SSM) is an organization of dedicated providers, students, and associated partners whose passion is to facilitate compassionate, collaborative care within our growing unsheltered community of Sacramento. SSM was founded by Anthony Menacho, PA-C, after graduating from Keck School of Medicine of USC in May 2019. Like most homeless operations across the country, our organization is in large-part run by student & non-student volunteers. Our volunteers are the heart of our organization and the future providers of our friends on the street.
Applications are available in the spring and fall of every year.
Goals and objectives for 2023-2024:
Exposing volunteers to:
the unique barriers to healthcare that PEH face
the challenges of medically managing this patient population (especially regarding chronic conditions)
Expanding Sacramento Street Medicine’s capacity to provide basic medical care on weekday outreaches, in addition to weekend outreach.
Recruit additional medical providers and assign each homeless encampment with a designated care provider.
