The purpose of the Vascular Surgery Interest Group (VSIG) is to provide educational opportunities for students interested in vascular surgery and endovascular surgery. With the support of CNU COM and SOLC, the VSIG will host suturing workshops focused on techniques used in vascular procedures, organize journal club meetings guided by expert mentors, and facilitate networking opportunities with vascular surgeons from various institutions. The VSIG also plans to work with UC Davis Health and Kaiser to provide shadowing opportunities with vascular and endovascular surgeons. These activities will help students explore the field, develop practical skills, and access opportunities that may otherwise be difficult to pursue independently.
The VSIG also aims to build a supportive community where students interested in vascular surgery can connect, learn from one another, and grow together. By fostering mentorship between first and second year medical students and providing guidance from experienced surgeons, our SIG will support members as they explore vascular and endovascular surgical careers and develop the knowledge, skills, and professional relationships needed to become excellent future vascular surgeons.
